Novena to Corpus Christi

4_mini (Demo)

Each Day

In the name of + The Father, and of The Son, and of The Holy Spirit. Amen*. [indulgence]

Our Father (for the good intentions of the Pope).

Hail Mary (for the good intentions of the Pope).

[If recited in a church, also pray the Apostle’s Creed]*

Act of Faith

I firmly believe, O my Divine Jesus, that Thou are truly present in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. I believe that It really and substantially contains Thy Most Precious Body and Blood, Thy Soul and Divinity.  I acknowledge these truths; I believe these wonders; I adore the power that has wrought them, the same power that said “Let there be light” and light was made.  Truly, Thou art a hidden God, the God of Israel, the Saviour.

Offered to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament – O sacrum convivium* [indulgence]

O sacred banquet, in which Christ is received, the memory of his Passion is renewed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us. (T.P. Alleluia).   (by St Thomas Aquinas)

Anima Christi (if possible, as an act of thanksgiving after Holy Communion)* [indulgence]:

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within thy wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from thee.
From the malicious enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come to thee,
That with thy saints I may praise thee for ever and ever. Amen.

Act of Love

As the hart yearns after the fountains of water, so my soul yearns after Thee, O God!

My soul has thirsted after the strong living God, when shall I come and appear before the face of God?

For what have I in heaven? and besides Thee, what do I desire upon earth?

Come then, O Thou, Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world!

Come, Thou Beloved of my heart!

Adorable Flesh and precious Blood of my Saviour!

Come to nourish, comfort and enliven my sickly soul.

O God of my heart! Let me neither love, seek, nor think on any other object but Thyself alone; for Thou alone art my portion and cup, my consolation, my treasure, my joy, my life, my all!

“My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God…Thou art, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God!” “Who will give me wings like a dove and I will fly and be at rest!”

Litany of the Most Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ [indulgence]

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world – spare us O Lord
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world – graciously hear us O Lord
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world – have mercy on us

V.   O Lord, you redeemed us by your blood.
R.  You have made us a kingdom to serve our God.

Let us pray,

Father, by the blood of your Son you have set us free and saved us from death. Continue your work of love within us, that by constantly celebrating the mystery of our salvation we may reach the eternal life it promises. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.**

Additionally, on the FINAL DAY especially on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi

Participate in a procession of the Blessed Sacrament*** [indulgence]

Recite or sing the Tantum Ergo* [indulgence]

Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail;
Lo! o’er ancient forms departing,
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,
And the Son who reigns on high,
With the Holy Spirit proceeding
Forth from each eternally,
Be salvation, honour, blessing,
Might and endless majesty. Amen.

V. You have given them bread from heaven,
R. Having all delight within it.

Let us pray,

O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament left us a memorial of your
Passion: grant, we implore you, that we may so venerate the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood, as always to be conscious of the fruit of your Redemption. You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

Credo firmiter, O mi Jesu Divinum, te vere adsensum esse in Sanctissimo Sacramento Altaris. Credo vere ac substantialiter continere Corpus et Sanguinem tuum pretiosissimum, Animum tuum et Divinitatem. Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.

O bone Jesu, exaudi me.
Intra tua vulnera absconde me.
Ne permittas me separari a te.
Ab hoste maligno defende me.
In hora mortis meae voca me.
Et jube me venire ad te,
Ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te,
In saecula saeculorum. Amen

Actus Amoris:

Sicut cervus desiderat ad fontes aquarum, ita anima mea desiderat te, Deus!

Sitivit anima mea ad Deum vivum; quando veniam et apparebo ante faciem Dei?

Veni ergo, O Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi!

Veni, Tu, Dilecte cordis mei!

Adorabilis Caro et pretiosum Sanguis Salvatoris mei!

Veni ad nutriendam, consolandam et vivificandam animam meam aegram.

O Deus cordis mei! Ne permittas me aliud amare, quaerere aut cogitare, nisi Te solum; quia Tu solus es pars mea et calix meus, consolatio mea, thesaurus meus, gaudium meum, vita mea, omnia mea!

“Exsultavit cor meum et caro mea in Deum vivum…Tu es, Domine exercituum, Rex meus et Deus meus!” “Quis dabit mihi pennas sicut columbae et volabo et requiescam!”
